FCRA stands for Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, which requires charitable institutions to register themselves if they wish to receive funds or donations from foreign entities/resources.
Under Section 6 of FCRA, organizations with definite cultural, social, educational, religious, or economic objectives are permitted to accept foreign contributions/donations only after obtaining FCRA registration.
To obtain FCRA registration, organizations must be duly registered for charitable purposes and agree to receive foreign contributions through a specific bank account. They must also be registered under the NGO Darpan Registration and have an active existence for at least 3 years.

The purpose of FCRA Registration is to ensure that the foreign contributions received by the recipient entity are not being utilized for activities that are detrimental to the national interest or security of India. It also aims to ensure that the foreign contributions received are being used for the purposes for which they are intended and that the funds are not being misused.
