Registration Process of Court Marriage Certificate

Step 1: Notice of Intended Marriage

The first step of Court Marriage is acquiring notice of the intended marriage. The said notice has to be in accordance with the provisions of Section 5 of the Special Marriage Act. You have to send a written notice mandatorily to the marriage registrar showing the intention of the parties to marry each other

Step 2: Publishing of Notice

The notice will be published by marriage by affixing it in Marriage Registrar’s office which is clearly visible, and will keep the original copy of the notice in the office records.

Step 3: Declaration by Parties and Witness

Before performing the marriage, the court marriage application form has to be signed by the couples along with three witnesses declaring that the parties are doing the marriage with their free consent.

Step 4: Solemnization of Marriage

The marriage can be solemnised at the office of the Marriage Officer or at any other place within a reasonable distance as the couples may desire. For conducting the marriage in any other places, an additional fee has to pay.

Step 5: Obtaining Marriage Certificate

Once the marriage solemnization takes place according to the rules and regulations of special marriage act, the marriage registrar enters the details in the marriage register and the marriage certificate will be issued. The court marriage certificate is proof of the valid marriage of the couples after the signatures of parties and witnesses.

  • College I-card or Any *Other Relevant Proof.
  • Address Proof (Any One)
  • Voter I-card, Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Passport
  • Driving License, Bank Passbook,Phone/Electricity Bill
  • Voter I-card of Father or Mother,School/College I-card
  • Service I-Card with Address, Rent agreement Or Any *Other Relevant Proof, 5 Passport Size Photo both Boy and Girl
  • 2 witnesses (Any ID/Address Proof & 3 Passport Size Photo)
  • Requirement total 2 witnesses from any side any male / female who has completed the age of 18 years having any ID and address proof can be your witness. (Witness may be your friend / family member or any of your known person).
  • For Muslim Marriage Act required only male witnesses.
  • Only for Special Marriage Act required total 3 witnesses.
